BCCI not to review Team India’s debacle to avoid blame game – Cricket News Update
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided not to launch an independent inquiry into Team India’s recent 0-4 defeat against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Cricket World Cup 2007. However,
the review report of the board manager, Anirudh Chaudhry, will be considered.
The board high-ups are of the view that if they outsource the postmortem of the team’s lackluster performances, they will have to face certain hard questions and blames too.
Following Team India’ s series defeat and the loss of their top Test slot, many in India and abroad are considering the BCCI responsible and the board does not want to irk the public wrath further by allowing a free inquiry.
In the backdrop of the Men in Blue’s demise in the World Cup 2007, the board invited the former Indian captains to take a review of the matter, but all the results of the analysis went against the team management. Now, the board authorities do not want to
let the same happen again.
Talking to the media today, a board official said, “They came and criticised us. There were not many positive and constructive suggestions.”
He further told, “We won’t panic after just one bad series. Everything was hunky dory with us when http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 won the World Cup and became the No 1 team.”
The BCCI administrators argue that they should not be brought under fire after the team’s just one bad series as they think that this failure was all due to the tough playing conditions of the host country.
However, in order to pacify the public sentiments, the board has asked the team’s newly appointed coach, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Duncan-Andrew-Gwynne-Fletcher-c54742 to submit a review report. Along with this, the inquiry, initiated by the manger, will also be completed by next month.
The Blue Shirts are going to play a 5-match ODI series against the Poms in September. Analysts suggest that the Indians should win this series at ever cost in order to save their and the board’s remaining respect.
