BCCI says senior Indian players will be available for West Indies series – Cricket news
The Board of Control for Cricket in India has reiterated that the senior players of the Indian national team will be available for their upcoming tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760.
Recently, reports had originated in the Indian media suggesting that the senior players were aiming to skip the tour after the conclusion of the ongoing season four of the Indian Premier League. However, refuting these reports the BCCI chief administrative
officer Ratnakar Shetty said, “We have no information of any player opting out. Everything will be clear at the selection committee meeting on May 10.”
Nonetheless, the BCCI has not clarified if it will be made compulsory for the players to take part in the tournament or if there will be any action taken against the players who decide to opt out of the series.
The players will only have a week to rest after the conclusion of the IPL before embarking for series in the Caribbean where the world champions will play a Twenty20, three Test matches and five One Day Internationals. The tour will last for fifty-one days
which is why there are rumours suggesting that certain senior Indian players are considering opting out of the series.
Team India have been playing competitive cricket for almost three months as after playing a full series in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 in the final played on April 2,
2011 at the Wankhede Stadium in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820.
After the World Cup, the players decided to participate in the IPL which is scheduled to conclude on May 28, 2011.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 will play the only Twenty20 match of the series on June 4, 2011 at the Port of Spain, after which the ODI series will begin on June 6 at the same venue.
West Indies on the other hand are currently busy playing an ODI series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Green-c60723 have already taken the series by winning the first three matches of the five-match series. After the limited overs series the two sides are scheduled
to compete against each other in a two Test match series which will end on May 24, 2011.
