BCCI secretary backs senior players – Cricket News Update
BCCI secretary, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sanjay-Madansingh-Jagdale-c88599 has backed veteran players of the Indian team to soon find their form by claiming that it’s their decision when to retire from Test cricket.
Following another poor display away from home, many have voiced concerns over the future of Men In Blue cricket, which for now seems bleak on countless fronts.
The manner of their defeats outside the subcontinent has been baffling, failing to adapt to conditions which offer pace and bounce.
The grey area for many remains the ageing middle-order compromising of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 – losing three Tests of which two have been innings defeat.
The Indians rely heavily on their batting line up but with it not performing well, it has raised doubts over their future in the pinnacle format of the game, especially abroad. As the pressure grows on BCCI, retirement is seen as a viable option considering the services the trio has rendered to Indian cricket.
However, Jagdale has come out in support of the old hands, claiming that it’s only up to them to make a fair call on their long term futures.
"They have played enough at the highest level and know when is the right time to leave. It's the job of selectors to decide. The board doesn't interfere in the selections matters. I know they haven't done well in the last two away tours but it can happen to the best,” said Jagdale.
Jagdale further backed the senior players, comparing their situation with that of Ricky Ponting and Michael Hussey, who also faced similar criticism but managed to silence their doubters through weight of runs in the ongoing series, which the Aussies currently lead by a 3-0 margin.
“The Australian media was after http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MEK-Hussey-c1942 before the start of the series. It was them who set up the victory in Melbourne Test which could have gone either way. You can't buy experience," added the BCCI secretary.
The final Test will be played at Adelaide, which will see under fire opener, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750’s slow over rate in the Perth bout.
