BCR Open 2010: Ignacio defeats Montanes; Faces Pablo For Title
The fourth seeded tennis player Juan Ignacio Chela has reached his second ATP World Tour final of the year on Saturday as he bundled out last season’s winner Albert Montanes in a total of two sets at the BCR Open Romania tennis
tournament in Bucharest. The final match score was 6-1, 6-3.
The Argentinean tennis player triumphed in his fifth ATP World Tour trophy in April with a win over Sam Querrey in the Houston final. He has advanced into his eleventh final in an outstanding fashion this week, missing no more
than a total of three games in any of the six sets Juan has played.
The thirty year old tennis player from Argentina broke serve on a total of two occasions in the second and sixth games to win the opening set before racing to a lead of 4-1 in the next set. The top seeded Albert rallied to reduce
the deficit to 3-4, however lost serve once again in the ninth game as Juan sealed win in a time period of eighty one minutes.
"I am very happy with the way I have performed today and thankfully I made it into the finals here in Bucharest. Today my level was great; I played better than my ranking says. It's never easy to get to the final and I'm very pleased
that I made it,” said the world number fifty three Juan after the match on Saturday.
In the title battle, Chela will meet Pablo Andujar, who is a qualifier and made his way into the final after getting the better of Marcel Granollers in an all Spanish semi final clash to advance into his very first ATP World Tour
final. The final match score was 7-6(5), 4-6, 6-4.
He along with Mischa Zverev who is in the final of the Open de Moselle tennis tournament, are the first two qualifiers to make their way into an ATP World Tour final this year.
"It feels great to reach my first final here in Bucharest. It is like a dream. I saw Chela playing on TV when I was younger. Against him I have nothing to lose. He makes very few mistakes, but I will have my chances,” said Andujar
after making his way into the final of the BCR Open Romania tennis tournament.
Andujar is currently ranked number 105 in the world by the Association of tennis professionals. He knocked down the second seeded Florian Mayer in the second round of the championship, sealed the opening tight set, in which a total
of eight break points were missed by the players. However, Marcel, who had come from a set behind to triumph in all of his clashes so far this week, smashed back two service breaks in the second set to tie the battle.
Andujar however bounced back to take a lead of 4-2 in the decisive set and despite Granollers striking back in the following game, managed to break serve again during the tenth game to secure win in a time period of three hours
and eleven minutes on Saturday.
"It was a very hard match today. I have known Marcel since we were 12. We even won French Open title together in doubles as juniors. Luckily I started to be more relaxed in the final set, but I was very tense at the beginning,”
said Andujar after the victory.
The twenty four year old Andujar is contesting in his only sixth ATP main draw of the year and improved to a match record of 7-5. In the title battle versus Chela, he will definitely be looking to avenge the loss he suffered to
the Argentinean tennis ace in Vine del Mar back in 2009.
