BCR Open & Open de Moselle tennis tournament: Doubles Reviews
The third seeded tennis duo, Lukasz Kubot and Juan Ignacio Chela advanced into the semi-final round of the BCR Open tennis tournament on Wednesday after getting the better of their Italian pair, Potito Starace and Daniele Bracciali in a total of two sets. In another encounter at the Open de Moselle tennis tournament, the top seeded duo, d**k Norman and Wesley Moodie managed to thrash out Denis Istomin and Jonathan Erlich in a total of two sets. The final match score was 6-4, 6-4. The Belgium-South African duo is making its very first appearance, since making their way into the quarter final round of the year’s final Grand Slam, the United States Open doubles tennis competition in New York. The duo, however, was defeated by the eventual runner-up Aisam/ Bopanna in straight sets.
The Brazilian tennis pair of Marcelo Melo and Bruni Soares, who are seeded number two to win the doubles title in the BCR Open tennis championship, overpowered the wild card entrants Pierre Hugues Herbert and Marton Fucsovics in a three-setter clash on Wednesday. The final match score was 3-6, 6-1, 10-3. The clash concluded in a time period of sixty five minutes.
Melo and Soares with a record of 1-2 in the ATP World Tour finals this season travelled all the way to Metz after participating in the Davis Cup tennis tournament by BNP Paribas World Group play-off tie against the Indian side in Chennai.
Meanwhile, Rogier Wassen and Dustin Brown did well to recover from a one set down and a deficit of 1-3 to get the better of Scott Lipsky and Ross Hutchins in a total of three sets on Wednesday. The final match score was 5-7, 7-5, 11-9. The match ended within eighty eight minutes.
In the singles draw, the 2007 winner Tommy Robredo managed to convert all four break point chances and smashed a total of six aces to defeat Denis Istomin from Uzbekistan in straight sets. Tommy won seventy two percent of his service points on Wednesday. As a result of his seventy four minutes win, Tommy has made his way into the quarter final round of the Open de Moselle tennis tournament in Metz.
"I am glad that I played extremely well today and things looked quite easy, as I managed to convert the break points in every set. Though, I got a little scared towards the end of the opening set as he started to play well. He is undoubtedly a very dangerous contender,” said Robredo after the match.
Tommy, the seventh seeded player at the ATP World Tour 250 indoor tennis competition, improved to a career of 19-19 this year. His best result this season came at the Skistar Swedish Open champion ship at Bastad, where he successfully made his way into the semi-final round before falling at the hands of Almagro.
Denis, on the other hand, who is a Pilot Pen finalist dropped to 28-22 this season.
