BCS standings: Week 10
The week 10 Bowl Championship Series standings have been revealed and NCAA football once again has a new team at the top of the standings. In addition, the mid and bottom sections of the ranks changed a great deal, as several of the higher ranked clubs struggled
in week nine and will have their work cut out for them, as they try and march back up the standings.
Top five
College football got a new number one this week, in the Oregon Ducks. The Ducks defeated USC over the weekend and now sit at the top of the BCS standings and the AP Top 25 Poll. The Ducks are followed closely by the Auburn Tigers, who cruised past Ole Miss.
Third spot now belongs to the TCU Horned Frogs, who were able to jump with a convincing win over UNLV. The Boise State Broncos dropped another spot to fourth, even after a commanding win over Louisiana Tech. Finally, rounding out the bunch are the Utah Utes,
who jumped all the way from eighth to earn a spot in the top five.
6-10
The 6-10 range also sees a new leader as the Alabama Crimson Tide are inching their way back to the top of the standings, moving up one spot from week nine. The seventh spot belongs to the Nebraska Cornhuskers, who upset the Missouri Tigers over the weekend.
The Oklahoma Sooners moved up one spot to eighth, while the Wisconsin Badgers, jumped one place into ninth. Rounding out the top 10 are the LSU Tigers, who gained two spots on a bye week.
11-15
The 11-15 range may have underwent the most change between weeks nine and 10, as several teams who were well ranked fell after difficult Saturday games. Nevertheless, the Ohio State Buckeyes remain in 11th place after getting a win over a weak
Minnesota side. The 12th spot is now filled by Missouri, who dropped out of the top 10 after a loss to the Cornhuskers. The 13 spot still belongs to Stanford, who continued their push for the top 10 with an outstanding 41-0 win over Washington.
The Michigan State Spartans dropped all the way to 14th from fifth after a loss to the Iowa Hawkeyes over the weekend. The top 15 is rounded out by the Arizona Wildcats, who extended their win streak to three with a win over UCLA.
16-20
There was plenty of jostling in the 16-20 range, however for the most part the teams remained the same. Leading the group is Iowa, who moved up two spots with their win over Michigan State. The Oklahoma State Cowboys remained in 17th, getting
a win over Kansas State without star receiver Justin Blackmon. The Arkansas Razorbacks were able to move up one spot into 18th place, while the South Carolina Gamecocks also moved up one place into 19th. The top 20 is now rounded out
by the Mississippi State Bulldogs, who recorded a win over Kentucky in week nine.
21-25
The top 25 only welcomed one new team this week. However, there was plenty of shifting in the bottom five. The group is now led by the Baylor Bears, who notched their seventh win of the season, defeating Texas. The Virginia Tech Hokies were able to move
up one spot into 22nd place in a bye week. The top 25 welcomed a new team in the Nevada Wolf Pack, who picked up their seventh win of the season in week nine. Checking in at 24th are the Florida State Seminoles, who fell from 16th
overall after losing to the now number 25 ranked North Carolina State Wolfpack.
