BCS Standings for week 10
After taking the weekend off, the no.6 Alabama Crimson Tide have increased their worth, moving up a spot in the national rankings, due to Missouri’s and Michigan State’s loss this past weekend.
The undefeated teams left in the Bowl Championship Series (BCS) include Auburn, who find themselves ranked number two this week, as well as the impressive Oregon Ducks, who have continued their season success and find themselves ranked at number one in the
nation.
The undefeated Texas Christian University (TCU) Horned Frogs also find themselves up in the rankings, as they are sitting at the third position. However, this weekend has a match-up between TCU and the undefeated and no. 5 ranked Utah Utes in a fight for
Mountain West Conference (MWC) supremacy.
The rest of the top 10 includes no. 4 ranked Boise State, who despite their undefeated record still find themselves in a struggle to reach the top of the BCS. This weekend has them playing the leader of the MWC, Hawaii.
Nebraska, ranked at the seven spot, has been coming on strong as of late. Their last two games saw them knock off two ranked teams in Missouri and Oklahoma State, scoring a combined 82 points on offence over the two games. This weekend has the Cornhuskers
travelling to Iowa State, hoping to continue their winning ways.
The eighth spot has the 7-1 Oklahoma Sooners, fresh off of their big win against Colorado 43-10. Their lone loss came to the ranked Missouri Tigers, 36-27, but they have quite a tough schedule left, which will determine which bowl game they get into. This
week they have Texas A&M, followed by Texas Tech, Baylor and finishing against Oklahoma State. Two of these teams are ranked within the top 25 so it is a rocky road ahead for the Sooners.
Coming in at number nine is the Wisconsin Badgers with the 13th ranked rushing offence in the nation. The Badgers have scored over 30 points in five of their games, with a whopping 70 points scored against Austin Peay. The rest of their schedule
only includes conference match-ups with Purdue, Indiana, Michigan and Northwestern respectively.
Rounding up the top ten is the Louisiana State Tigers, who find themselves in a conference battle against rival Alabama. LSU had the week off last week, so fans are hoping they can rebound from the tough loss handed to them by Auburn, 24-17. This is not a
very high powered offence, so they will be relying on their defence to keep them in the game with the Tide’s 24th ranked points for offence.
