Question:

BEAM bot construction?

I've collected several parts that I need to build a certain Symmet BEAM bot following this schematic.

However, in the instructions on two different sites, it's said that it must have a 3v solar cell. The only solar cell that RadioShack had to offer was .3amps at .55v. Would a .55v solar cell still work since it's just charging the capacitors, or would it not?

Also I have several capacitor candidates

I'm not sure which would be the best choice, the first, second, or third configuration.

One last thought. RadioShack had two 2.2k Ohm resistors, but one had 1/4 watt and another had 1/2 watt. I got the one that was 1/2 watt since I didn't know which would be best.

  1. 3v solar cell is not going to work the same as a .55v solar cell for sure.

RadioShack is not a good place for your robotic project.

Solarbotics does. You can buy there anything you need for your BEAM bot. Solarbotics Internet store is easy to use and reliable.
