I will be 39 weeks and 5 days tomorrow. I am going in to the hospital at 8 pm and I am going to be given cervidil and then patosin. I am going in a few days early due to the babys size, and my narrow pelvis. I dont want a c section and I have it in my head that I am going to get one anyway. I have been about a 1/2 of a CM for 4 weeks now and they did not say anything about effacement or anything like that. Also the baby had not dropped he is still up there , do you think I will end up with a c section????

*ALSO SHOULD I NOT EAT ANYTHING TOMORROW

*SHOULD I BRING THE CARSEAT MY STUFF & THE DIAPER BAG

thank you all

  1. They should have told you not to eat after midnight tonight just incase because if you do have to have a c-section your want your stomach empty.  It is really hard to say but if baby doesn't drop into place then that will increase the chances of a c-section because not dropping can be caused by the baby not being able to fit properly.  Just get some rest tonight you will need it and yes take your "hospital bag" with you and the carseat should be installed in the car.

  2. the patosin helps dialate the cervix. i think you will be good. Usually the dr. will not do a c-section unless it is really necessary. :)

maybe someone can bring the carseat to you the following day so you wont have to haul it around everywhere. or better yet put it in your car. :) good luck. :)

  3. I'm sure everything will go fine. Most women that come in to be induced aren't dilated or effaced. The cervidil is meant to help with the effacement and the pitocin is going to get the contractions going to help you dilate. And yes, you should probably bring everything along, most inductions are successful. Congratulations!!

  4. The cervadil will help soften your cervix and the Pitosin will force your body to have contractions. Since you are so close to your due date, your body may naturally go into contractions when they insert the cervadil. Don't be afraid of a c-section. They doctor's will do what's right for you and your baby.

I would only eat lite food tomorrow. But make sure you eat something. Once they insert the cervadil, they won't let you eat. Just ice chips!

When I've gone to the hospital, I always took my bag and the baby bag (his/her clothes). My husband always brought the seat up after I had the baby.

    Good luck to you!!!

  5. I would call the hospital and find out about eating anything. That's really late at night for them to induce and for you not to eat all day long. Never know what kind of delivery your going to have until the time comes. Everything may move fast once they induce you and you go from 1/2 to 10 in a few hours, everyone is different. Yea go ahead and take your stuff and diaper bag with you, you can leave the car seat in the car and have hubby or whoever bring it up to your room when you get discharged. Congratulations. hope you have a fast and safe delivery.

  6. You should definitely bring all your stuff along, & I would make sure to eat something as it might be the last thing you eat for a long while. While on Pitocin I wasn't allowed to eat anything, but while on Cervidil they did let me eat-- not sure if the rules differ from doctor to doctor. I'd be careful about what you eat though-- nothing too greasy, or heavy.

I wouldn't go in thinking you'll have a c-section. Small pelvis + big baby doesn't seem like it would be in your favor... but it's so hard to know ahead of time. When I was induced I hadn't dilated at all beforehand. After 20 hours of Pitocin & Cervidil... I still had hardly dilated. Then they broke my water, and I went from 1-10 in about 45 minutes and then only had to push about 5 times. Expect the unexpected :-)

Good luck with labor... everything will be 100% worth it once you see your little one!

  7. You are right in that you do sound like a C-section risk.

Personally, I didn't eat anything prior to going to the hospital when I went into labor, but that's because I simply didn't want to.  I would eat a hearty meal tonight and see how you feel first thing in the morning.  If you are hungry and not all nerves, I would eat, but then not have anything else until a doctor or nurse advises you.  It's usually 12 hours of fasting prior to surgery so you should be okay on the C-section not eating if you are scheduled for an induction.

I wouldn't bring all your stuff with you.  I would bring your labor bag, pillow, music, etc., but that's it.  The rest of the stuff will simply clutter up the room.  Once the baby comes, I would ask a family member to bring up the diaper bag and not bring up the carseat until you are discharged.

**Edit:  And I went into labor, but had to be induced due to complications.  I was able to do a 29 hour labor without a C-section and my baby was in malposition and very high as well.  Just be firm if you don't want a C-section and it's not absolutely necessary.  I was fortunate to have a doctor who told me that she thought I could do it vaginally.  I agreed and was determined to see it through.  It was very rough, but not having the C-section risk or recovery was well worth it.

  8. ya you can eat and bring the baby's stuff so you have it all when it comes time to bring the baby home congrats

  9. You are going to do just fine.  I am sure the induction will go smoothly!  I was induced with my 2nd and it took 3 hours and the birth was 3 minutes.

Yes bring EVERYTHING with you.  I am 100% sure you are not going home tomorrow...you will go home with a baby!

    Good luck!

  10. I was also induced and the cervadil did not work for me at all but the pitocin worked in hours. The nurses and doctors will probably have you lay in different positions to help push the baby down.

Yes you should bring your diaper bag and carseat.

    Good Luck.

  11. Good Luck for tomorrow,

I had a friend who was extremely tiny and she gave birth normally. She was induced and was having silent contractions for over a day. She had a 8 pound baby and they were shocked she managed. She was basically in Labour for 48 hours!

I think you will do just fine :-) Good luck xxxx

  12. When I was induced I stayed at the hospital.  I was told not to eat anything.  I ended up having a c-section because my babies heart rate dropped.  That does not mean you will get one though every situation is different.  I had my daughter 6 hours after being induced.

  13. I had the same plan with my daughter. I had cervadil and was induced via IV. But, I had her 8 hours after they broke my water by natural birth. So, I wouldnt worry too much. Our bodies are great at kicking into gear when they need to...sometimes we just need a ittle help in the beginning. As for eating..I would eat because they will not let you eat when you get to the hospital. And, yes, take your stuff and carseat so you feel more at ease and prepared. Good Luck! Congrats!  :)
