BERGAMO sweeps past CONSTANTA in a Pool D match of CEV Volleyball Champions League
A Pool D match saw the Volley BERGAMO play with the Romanian squad of 2004 Tomis CONSTANTA recently in the Italian city of Treviglio.
The match between the two sides was part of the CEV Volleyball Champions League-Women that is currently taking place in many of the European cities. The match between BERGAMO and CONSTANTA took place in Treviglio, Italy. The venue of the competition was
the Pala Facchetti. The total number of fans that came to watch the two teams play against each other were 1000.
It did not take long for the game to reach its conclusion as BERGAMO was able to end up on the winning side after making a clean sweep over its opponents. By the time that BERGAMO had started celebrating its first win in the preliminary round of the tournament,
the score board showed the following final set scores: 25-11, 25-23 and 25-22.
The coach of the home team, Davide Mazzanti, expressed himself in the following manner after the match had reached its close, “I would like to congratulate my players as we took this match very easily and with this result we are on a good way to advance
to the next round of the competition.”
The first set of the match saw the home team come out strong and they were able to take the lead early on. Once they had the advantage, the BERGAMO did not let it go until the end of the opening frame and let their opponents trial all the way behind. Therefore,
the first frame was bagged by the BERGAMO at 25-11.
The loss of the first set got the CONSTANTA squad going in the second frame and they were able to significantly challenge the BERGAMO team. Both the teams stayed neck to neck with each other until BERGAMO finally secured another frame at 25-23.
The loss of the first two frames did not decrease the determination of the CONSTANTA team in the third set and it took on competitive tones. However, the precise attacking skills of the BERGAMO squad enabled them to get the third set of the frame as well
at 25-22.
