BERNARD HOPKINS VS. JOE CALZAGHE ( lets talk boxing)?

This fight is comming up this saturday at 9pm(ET)

Who ever wins this fight definitely will get MUCH credit.

Both guys are Great fighters.

Bernard is a Freakin legand of this Era, & still dominating and champion at age 43.

Calzaghe is a Legand for the people across seas, they treat that man like a rock star

This will be a good fight i must say i believe hopkins will fight a MUCH smarter fight picking him off slowley like he always does. Trying to win off points.

and i think Calzaghe will use his speed and try to knock hopkins out, which i might add has never been done.

Calzaghe is a great fighter and I don’t think he will get the respect he truly deserves world wide. Hopkins has had some great wins but against who, Tito , Dela hoya ? winky wright, ask yourself were they really good at that weight Tito and Dela hoya way to small winky wright, when he did step up to the plate many moons  a go he was made to look very ordinary against Jones. lets face it he has been beaten four times and knock down twice by Segundo Mercado in 1994 for the IBF middle weight title then they gave it a draw? Look at the fight Mercado won easily. Lets look at Calzaghe he has been knocked twice because he wanted to go to and give the crowd there moneys worth Byron Mitchell was one he got up and then knocked Mitchell out  Karbary Salem but beat easly on points enzo said after this fight if he ever fights like that or trains for a fight like he did for this one again I will resign from being his trainer, the rest is history. Calazaghe top rated fights>Chris eubank,omar sheika,Charles brewer, Byron Mitchell,Jeff Lacey,Mikkel Kessler. You may look at this and say well they are not legends but would Hopkins fight any of these guys nooo, Chris eubank he did not want to know,nigel Benn same thing and Benn knock out Iran Barclay and Gerald McClellen, Chris Eubank beat Benn twice and Calazghe knocked Eubank down in the first then beat him over 12 rounds. Hopkins 1993 lost to Jones then never steped up to the plate ok he beat Glenn Johnson but come on cliton woods beat Johnson, 2001 he beat Tito who did move two weights up to fight a guy that really should be light heavy,william joppy,Oscar dela hoya , Howard eastman who he hit and ran all night against, by they way 12 months before this fight eastman was knocked out cold in sparring against who<<Calzaghe. Hopkins then lost twice to Taylor and then beat a run down Tarver and a tiny winky wright the only credit I could give Hopkins for is the Tarver fight and really was that the Tarver that Beat Jones <<NO WAY. As you can see Hopkins is smart, look at the fighters he has chosen to fight, come Saturday night Hopkins will realise he is not that smart and has definatly picked the wrong fight, he will be exsposed.

Marvelos Marvin Haglers comment on Joe Calzaghe> "Joe is the proper article, a true warrior." Its easy to spot flaws in Calazghe but very hard to find them in the ring ive never seen a fighter like him one of a kind….Calzaghe win by late stoppage.

This fight could go either way. Bernard Hopkins is more experienced in big fight situation and will deal with the pressure better but the question is will he be in good enough shape at 43 because Joe Calzaghe will not let him rest.

Calzaghe easy. He has shown what he can do against opponents (aka JEFF LACY haha).

He will easily win by decision.

Conventional wisdom favor's Calzaghe by decision, the 7 year age advantage the Calzaghe has is the most glaring factor.  The fact that this is Joe's first fight outside Europe, and that Hopkins is his first real American A level fighter will make it interesting.

I think if it goes the distance, Calzaghe would edge Hopkins on numbers of punches thrown and landed.  I also think Hopkins is going to have KO the Welshman in order to win legitimately.    

Lacy and Manfredo were B rated club fighters, this is really Joe's first fight with an A level American fighter, and even at 43 Hopkins brings more into the ring than Joe has ever seen.  It is also Joe's first fight outside of Europe, and that will be a distraction, if not a psychological factor.  

If Hopkins somehow wins, it will destroy Calzaghe's career.  Joe will be looked upon as an over protected European who couldn't make it on the big stage.  It is a career defining fight for Calzaghe, Hopkins has already defined his career and it's not that big a deal for the American.  Clearly it's a bigger fight for Joe than Bernard, and this might be a factor.

I got to go with Hopkins in this one, the Vegas lights will have blinded the Welshman by now, and Joe is going to find out there is a big difference between Europe and the U.S.  I think Joe is going to clearly out work Hopkins, and get totally ripped off by one of the worst decision in decades.  The international outcry is going to be so loud, Dave Tiberi and his congressman will want another investigation into boxing corruption.

neither man will get a KO becaise neither man will try for the KO.  there will be no stoppages, there will be no knockdowns.  this will be a nitty-gritty workfest.  both men will try to grind out a decision with effective body work and combinations.  i think calzaghe will outwork the old man for a close UD or possibly a SD.  i dont see hopkins landing more than cal, and i definately dont see either man tasting canvas.

although b-hop is an all time great, calzaghe is younger and he will be up for this one knowing he has something to prove in the states, so i see a closely contested contest for the first half of the bout, the joe takes over and outpoints b-hop over the distance.

i think its gonna be a good entertaining (tactical) fight, hopkins legacy will not be affected if calzaghe wins, hopkins is 43 and has had great level of competition that calzaghe hasn't, calzaghe is 35 who is also the favoured fighter to win the fight, but if calzaghe loses he will lose much more than just this fight and it will affect his legacy.

And yes i am looking forward to this fight, im a fan of hopkins and i hope he wins but i think calzaghe will win a close UD
