I have a 100 gallon tank and its about 4 feet tall. It has 2 "18 inch" light hoods (15watts)

there are so many kinds of lights for aquariums and I just want something that would make my tank look really..

Bright!

Clean!

Makes my fishes look better!

And penetrate through the whole tank!

Can you please tell me exactly what to look for?

50/50 or 10000K, Idk >.< Please tell me what would look good, anything

Thank you

  1. T-5 or Metal Halide.

  2. If you're on a tight budget, you could buy t5 lighting, and if you are rich, you can spend $300+ on Metal Halide...

  3. higher K means bluer light. lower K is more red. around the middle is white. it's up to the individual preference.

a lot of marine (saltwater) tanks use the 10,000K bulbs and if you have seen them notice how bluish they look.

Lower 3,000K bulbs may look too yellow. I prefer at least around the middle 5,000K or higher. yellow does not look good IMO

here's a chart of the K Temperature scale:

  4. it really depends on what kind of tank your looking for. if your looking to add live aquarium plants than you'll need to find a light to accommodate your plant if your just looking for a light that looks good any light will do just fine they all are very similar just with a few minor differences.

  5. are you a breeder

  6. first off get to versa tops if the tank doesn't have them they are simply glass tops

then here is a link to a very good 4 bulb light that will meet all of your lighting needs

  7. I use this style of lighting on my tanks: http://www.bigalsonline.com/BigAlsUS/ctl...
