Question:

BEST WAY FOR A FEMALE TO LEARN FOOTBALL????

I . . . . basically. . . enjoy football! I'm a female ! And though I don't understand the technical "rules" to it. . .I enjoy watching the football being run (I understand when an announcer says, "Look at that son-of-a-b*tch GO")! A beautiful . . .well-served pass! And the feeling of exhilaration when my favorite team scores a touchdown! I ALSO understand that in "pro" ball the player has to have both feet inside the line when a ball is caught and that college ball only requires ONE foot inside.

But how does a female. . .who typically never plays football. . .learn the technical rules and plays (what "downs" are and the rules thereto etc.) so that she can APPRECIATE and ENJOY football MORE and b*tch about it LESS ! I believe if women understood it more it WOULDN'T be such a "issue" come Sundays and Monday night football. PLEASE HELP !!!!

  1. go to a library and check out some books about the history of football and the rules of football. the nfl probably has a down-loadable rule book on it's web site.

  2. Pick up a copy of Madden 09 for your video game system and learn how to play. Or watch it with someone who really knows the game.

  3. W2G) I feel if you have someone that love the game, it would be better to learn as you watch seeing it happen before your eyes is I feel much faster. Asking questions of the person you watch it with as long as they don't mind. Some people don't like to talk during the game also, you can use Google's search engine (on how to learn football) and there you will find many but the one that stood out for me was(understanding the basics of football 101 it is for beginners there are many to choose from. Good luck and welcome to the best dam sport in the world.

  4. I believe you could learn it as easily as a male.

Also, turn on the sports channel every now and then.

  5. well i guess i know most of the stuff i do because i have 3 brothers and a dad that are crazy about football, if you listen to what people around you are talking about then it should come to you. So try to watch games with other people who know about football, ask some questions and listen to them talk

  6. I would just watch a few shows on ESPN... like The Weekly College and NFL Updates and Sportscenter.. That will really help you pick up quickly on the lingo and learn about the sport and also watch some games with people that know football and dont mind answering your questions about what is going on.

However, I do have one warning for you... Lou, Herbie, and Corso are very ANTI-SEC and will mislead you on the conferences overall potential.... so dont pay much attention to them when they bash the SEC...

You will know who I am talking about above during your first College Update show...

  7. you seem to have a handle just ask someone who knows if there is something in particular you don't understand

and as for a typical female to learn just watch the game and shut your yap

  8. Believe it or not, if you watch the game, the announcers do a good job of explaining some of the technical aspects of the game.  Just watching and paying attention to what is going on really does help a lot of females learn the game.  Now if you really don't understand why a certain play was called a certain way, then ask someone who is watching it with you.  But most of the time, the announcer does a great job of explaining why something happened the way it did.  Some of the announcers themselves used to play football so they know the rules pretty well.  It's nothing you have to put too much effort into to learn the game, just have to give it some time and you'll pick it up pretty quick.  Good luck and enjoy.
