  1. Just plenty of encouragement.  Have you let him watch your significant other p**p in the potty?  I did this with my daughter.  I would let her come to the potty with my and she would sit on her little potty and I would sit on the bit potty.  We would have a potty party LOL.  Anyhow it worked and took any anxiety away from potty time for her.  Also when I was in full training with her I put just cotton training underwear on her.  She was trained in two weeks.  It takes ALOT of patience and some laughter.  I am not saying I never felt discouraged or irritated whenever she would p**p or pee in her underwear just as we were going out the door.  You just have to expect those things to happen.  Anyhow, it will eventually.  Good luck.

  2. there really is no 1 best way, because what is good for me, may not be good for you and what's good for you may not be good for me.....since my son (now 13 months) does not like to sit in the walker or playpen while i am getting ready in the mornings, i take him to the bathroom with me and sit him on the potty....if he goes, he goes, if he doesn't, then know big deal....at least i am able to keep an eye on him...he's been using the potty whenever i put him on it since he was about 10 months old....my older son was the same as your baby....he would pee but not p**p....whenever he goes in his diaper/pull-up, make sure to empty it into the potty so that they can see that that is where it goes...eventually, they will start putting it there lol

  3. My 2 yr old is the youngest of the three. I was prepared for another 6 month battle and was amazed when he potty trained in 4 days! yeah. i know..  Since my older two were girls the only thing i did differently, and i apologize if this sounds gross, is to show him how to do both before we took off the diapers and went to big boy pants. that way he had an actual visual, and was prepared ahead of time. Again, i know it's not for everyone, but you did ask, and for us, it worked amazingly well.

  4. Persistence and dedication is the key for any child potty training. Ask him every 30-40 minutes if he needs to use the potty.

Also, what we are doing for our youngest son is take him to the store (any store) and let him pick-out his "own" big-boy underwear.

Once you get home put them on him and no pants or shorts let him get used to them, and feel comfortable wearing them. There will be accidents,no doubt but don't discipline or make a big deal when it happens. Continue to ask if he needs to use the potty and eventually he will learn.

There is also the chart method, which worked quite well for my oldest.

When they use the bathroom (both potty and p**p) they get a star on their chart, once they obtain so many they get a special toy or prize (something small -hot wheell car, ice cream, etc.)

If they go p**p you give them 2 stars and for potty just 1 - a good incentive for him to use the potty for pooping.

    Hope this helps!

  5. well first CONGRATS! and second, train him to tell you when he has to go poopy and encourage him for telling you on the way to the potty annd then sit him on the potty and once he does it clap and say "Yay!your a big boy now"

why did i get one down and up?
