BIRD LOVERS! I have a question about finches???????please help?

I was given six finches late last year: 4 beautifully colored ones and two brown ones....the two brown eventually had 5 babies n the babies are all grown up now...there is one nest in the cage n the cage is large enough to fit all these birds n within the next month we are moving them to an even bigger one that reaches from the floor to the cieling.......Heres mi problem: mi sister at medical school heard of some experiment they were doing with finches and they are gonna kill most of them by the end... she managed to bring home 4 small zebra finches just 30 days old today...I wanted to know if it would be okay mixing these with the finches i already have???

PLEASE HELP...any help appreciated :)

Never mix new birds with the old, as you don't know whether the new ones have an illness. Put them in a small cage in another room at first. After a few weeks if they are healthy you can mix them, but watch out for fighting about territories and mates.

You can mix the finch all in the same cage however I would remove the one nest box as they will fight and possibly kill each other for it.

You should also quarentine the new finch for 60 days before placing them with yours to ensure they are all healthy.

Finch can and do fight so I would keep a second cage available to seperate any that are either attacking or being attacked by the others.

Hey, i have finches to and they are having baby's just now, ive had finches for a loooong time, what i did when i got new ones i put them in a speerate cage beside the other one and if they seem to be chirping and acting like they are happy then you could start puting them in one at a time so they get used to it, only one at  a time just remember! ahha, give it time untill you are sure they will get along! and if yur not sure and you dont think they will get along! i think if you dont have a good feeling about it, just give it some more time! ahah well hope i helped! bye bye.
