I think its a bad idea, BJ Penn is a small light wieght, even smaller as a welter. GSP will run threw Penn, 1st round TKO or KO. allthough size really dont matter, GSP is better both on the ground & standing. Dynamic n Versatile he will dominate that fight hands down! U all will see, GSP is a forced to be reckoned with fighter, all the way to light heavy n under, he is way to athetic n well rounded for most fighters to handle. i think GSP would even beat Leyoto Machida in a light heavy bout. GSP has just the style for that illusive karate that machida is so good at.

  1. It's not going to happen. If Im in a business and I say I'm going to move my office to the 2nd floor instead of the 1st, I can't just go ahead and do it. Fighters in all MMA organizations can't just move up and down weight classes because they want to. It needs to be worked out with the bosses, this case it is Dana White.

And as much as a BJ Penn vs. GSP would draw a fairly good amount of viewers, the timing is bad. Think about it, since dropping to the Lightweight division, BJ Penn has a grand total of 1 title defense. There are still a lot of good quality fighters in the Lightweight division that could make for some good matches (Roger Huerta, Kenny Florien, Mac Danzig, Clay Guida, Rich Clementi). Dana is not going to allow his top Lightweight fighter leave a class that he has barely tested yet.

And the same thing goes for GSP. He has a grand total of 0 successful title defenses in the Welterweight class. So there is no reason for a rematch between the two to be springing up any time this year. Maybe in 09.

  2. Just wondering...did you know BJ and GSP already fought?

That's when BJ basically ate his weight on - instead of gaining muscle or anything. It was a pretty close match.

GSP is definitely great, but I think BJ has more natural talent.  I definitely think it would go to decision...but if BJ actually busts his *** like never before, he might just outclass St.Pierre.  We still don't know what Penn is like in his greatest shape (I don't think he's at his best shape even after his fight with Sherk).

I agree GSP could take care of Machida, but  it would be another split decision.

It'd all be up to BJ's conditioning...if he's even slightly lazy in practice, GSP would out wrestle him again, for a split decision.  Basically, what Sherk did, but with better striking, and better takedowns.

  3. GSP can beat him. Once he has Penn on the ground, Penn is screwed. Pound for pound wise, I believe GSP can match evenly with BJ. But would be another great match between the two though regardless. But GSP will be the victor.

  4. are you kidding me?

did you watch the last fight they had?  it is considered the most controversial decision in MMA history.  GSP won despite CLEARLY taking the most damage.  He gave his interiew bloodied up in the hospital, while BJ was walking around with no cuts on his face.

GSP HAS gotten knocked out before.  BJ has never been knocked down.

BJ has fought Machida at Light Heavyweight.  Where have you ever seen GSP even have the balls to even attempt something like that?

I mean seriously, BJ has heavy hands.  He's the only non-brazilian to win the Mundials after 3 years of training.

Once BJ gets his cardio to elitle level, that BS decision wont happen again.

  5. Your an idiot...where are you getting your info from...he still has a fight against either Florian or Huerta and St. Pierre will be fighting in August against Fitch, then possibly against Alves if he  beats Hughes...a fight between Penn and St Pierre won't happen for at least another year.

  6. Penn did not say he would definentally do it, he just suggested that to the crowd.  It would be an amazing fight, I am not a fan of either but I would want GSP to win.

  7. GSP is 15 pounds heavier than Penn.  That's a very big advantage for GSP.  Pound for Pounds, Penn is better.  If GSP loses 15 pounds, Penn will knock GSP silly.

  8. alright this is why your a frikken idiot. BJ and GSP already fought and BJ basically stood up with him landing every shot while GSP swung and missed all of his. then BJ landed a shot and broke GSP's nose so GSP decided he should take BJ down. Then he couldnt take BJ down and was forced to stand with him. BJ started getting tired and GSP finally got him down. and even then GSP couldnt do much. BJ didnt have any muscle then anyways so if he were to fight gsp while gsp was 170 and he was 155 bj wouldnt gas and would win.
