BMC regains their strength by retaining Cadel Evans and George Hincapie – Cycling News
The 2011 Tour de France winner Cadel Evans has shown his confidence in the team BMC as he has decided to stay with them for a period of three more years and has renewed his contract. BMC has assisted him in achieving the most prestigious title as he holds
the honour of becoming the first Australian to win the Tour de France.
Team BMC has shown a really good progress considering it is a young team as has moved up to second position in the standings whereas Evans is at Number one at the UCI rankings.
Good news for BMC is that the experienced 38-year-old George Hincapie has also decided to stay with the team for one more season and this will be the 19th season of the American with the team.
Jim Ochowicz, Team BMC’s boss has been delighted after both riders decided to stay with them as he stated that with Evans and George back in the team we will carry on the journey towards success and the experience of the two will help polish the young players.
He mentioned that, he wanted George to help the young talent like Taylor Phinney and Greg Van Avermaet.
Cadel Evans shared his experience of the time spent with the team as he stated that, BMC has shown a lot of confidence in him and his journey with the team has been satisfying and that is the only reason why he has extended the contract.
Winner of the 2011 Tour de France mentioned that he will be looking forward to work hard with the team and produce even better results as he said, “I look forward to the years ahead. We will keep working and progressing towards the future.”
Evans joined team BMC in 2010 before it was given the status of a Pro Team as the 34-year-old represented the team in Giro D’ Italia and Tour de France.
Cadel Evans is hopeful about his future with BMC and is looking forward to bag some more wins as he is now staying with them till 2014.
