I have a 1998 BMW 316 compact. it doesnot come with a fatory fitted armrest so i was thinking of actually buying one from the internet and fitting one myself. I have tried to search it over the internet everywhere but no luck. most of the armrest are either for 318's or "universal". Can anyone please guide me on how to go about this? or probably give me a link to where i can order it from. Also if anyone could tell me if changing the seat covers is a simple process ( can i do it) or do i need to go to DIY.

i am sorry my questions are very simple, because this is my first car and dont have any experience with them.

Would be thankful for all your help

  1. Front or rear armrest?

In either case, any 3 series compact interior trim will fit - the 316, 318, 320, 325, etc only vary by engine size. Ebay is your best bet for any trim parts like this.

The seats don't come with any covers as standard, the material is part of the seat construction, so you can either fit covers, or replace the seats entirely - very easy, the rear seat clips out & the front seats are held by just four bolts.. Again, Ebay lists several BMW complete interiors (usually front & rear seats & door panels)
