BMW 330xi 2002 external temperature sensor replacement?

The exteral temp. is WAY off in my car. I tried taking the sensor out, cleaning it and putting it back in and that didn't correct the problem. So Ive purchased a new external temperature sensor. Do I just simply remove the old sensor plug the new one in? Or is there something else I need to do? Guidance would be appreciated! Thanx!

that is pretty much it but use tape on the thread (2 spins) for it not leak
