BMW Italia rider James Toseland finishes WSBK Silverstone event despite broken wrist – WSBK news
BMW Motorrad Italia SBK Team rider James Toseland had set a goal to complete both races at Silverstone and with a determined effort, he managed to cross finish lines in both races despite having a broken wrist.
Just the before start of the race weekend he described his aim to complete the race weekend and especially fight throughout the race day. He fractured his wrist during a test session run held at Motorland Aragon, Spain. Since then, he was sidelined from
the racing in order to get back to full fitness.
Toseland said, “On Friday morning I had concerns for the weekend due to both physical and psychological stresses. I’m therefore very happy to have been able to complete both races. I had no grip in race one but the bike was fine in the second.”
In race one, he was able to go steadily but with his aching wrist, he crossed the finish line at 12th position. Since his crash, he was replaced by Lorenzo Lanzi, who has been playing his role in the last three events before his comeback at the
Silverstone round.
Toseland added, “Beyond the result, for me it was important to finish both races after five months off track. It has boosted my morale because the fracture was really bad and now I'm coming through it.”
Presently, the British rider is ranked at 23rd position in the 2011 WSBK points table. In total, Toseland picked up seven points from the Silverstone event.
Although he could not perform well at his home event, he did achieve his personal goal by the end of the race day.
Toseland’s teammate at BMW Italia, Ayrton Badovini was slightly better in the race. The Italian scored couple of tenth place finishes in both races and scored total of 12 points on the race day. Badovini was the fastest satellite BMW rider in the second
race behind factory BMW rider Leon Haslam who came eighth.
