BMW Motorrad Motorsports rider Leon Haslam back at fifth position in World Superbike Championship
BMW Motorrad Motorsports team rider Leon Haslam has regained his fifth place in the World Superbike Championship standings.
Despite of his tough battle in race one and two at the recent Czech event, he came home with eighth and seventh positions respectively. Still the British rider is not content to score outside the top five slots at the Brno WSBK round. Leon Haslam was the
sole rider from the BMW Motorrad Motorsports team.
Haslam said, “The first race I had a good start. With new, grippy tyres I was struggling a little bit with my pace, so some other riders were able to pass me. But when the grip went away I did not go any slower - but they did, so I caught up again.”
The British rider was placed at 13th place on the starting grid for the Brno, Czech round of World Superbike Championship. Though he faced a bad start but soon he hopped up to fight in the mid pack of riders scoring top ten places in both races.
Haslam was facing traction issues at the start of both races, but later he tried to throttle up and save his position in the race.
Haslam further said, “That was a good battle and I passed three guys during the last few laps, which was exciting. In race two I was held up a little bit so Ayrton, who was in sixth, could get away. But then I had a really good battle with Lascorz in the
last two laps.”
The British rider said that both the races at Brno, Czech were tough and all the contenders were fighting hard. The team and the rider aimed high to finish in both races but after losing, his team is looking for the issues and trying to fix them.
Haslam said that he is pleased to cover the margin and show some progress ahead of his home event at Silverstone. He said he would try his level best to score better positions in pairs at Great Britain. Let’s see how he fares in it.
