BMW PGA Championship: Peter Lawrie, Alvaro Quiros tied for the fourth position at the end of second round
Peter Lawrie and Alvaro Quiros stood tied for the fourth position at the end of the second round of the BMW PGA Championship.
Both the professionals scored a 7-under 137 each in the first two rounds and finished five strokes behind the current leader James Morrison, at the Wentworth Club in Surrey, England.
Lawrie made a quick start in the first round and displayed an amazing performance till the end of the day. He played a bogey-free round on Thursday, as he shot four birdies and an eagle.
"The key to success was not making bogeys and hitting a lot of fairways and greens. I missed a couple of chances coming in. I left a few short but I am happy with a 66," Lawrie said.
He was sharing the top leaderboard position with David Drysdale and cheered all his fans. Then in the second round, Lawrie dropped to the fourth position, as he scored only three birdies and two bogeys.
Quiros also amazed the spectators for playing two best rounds. He shot six birdies and just one bogey in the first round. He scored a 5-under 67 on Thursday.
In the second round, he added a 2-under 70, by shooting five birdies and three bogeys. He competed well for the title and is now sharing the 4th position with Lawrie.
Morrison, the current leader, scored an 8-under 64 in the second round on Friday. He was the most appealing player in the field. He shot six birdies, an eagle and secured the lead by four strokes.
Luke Donald and David Drysdale are tying for the second position and giving a tough time to the leader. However, Morrison performance is amazing. His enormous scores are hard to beat.
“Definitely one of the best rounds I've ever had and probably one of the easiest, funnily enough," said Morrison, "It felt easy. I wish golf was like that every day".
Rory McIlroy missed the cut at the European Tour event. He is no more in the field of the mega purse event.
Lawrie and Quiros both have ample chances to grab a victory. They only need to score consistently in the next two rounds and avoided making over-par strokes.
