BMW PGA Championship heading to a tight weekend after a surprise second round: Wrap-up Part-1
The second day of the BMW PGA Championship dawned with another sunny day at the scenic Wentworth Golf Club in Surrey where some of the finest players of the game tee-ed off for the halfway lead in the event.
Taking advantage of a quiet sunny morning, James Morrison shot straight into contention with a blistering run of eight-under, 64 to grab the lead by a whooping four strokes over the nearest contenders.
The 27-year-old Englishman who has been part of the Young English Cricket team, took full advantage of the windless sunny morning, edging past the big wigs of the sport and pitch a strong lead in the event.
He said, "I haven't really looked back. Playing golf is better than standing in the field all day. I expect a lot, but if I shoot 80 or 65 I'll take what I can from it. I desperately, desperately, desperately want to keep going forward and that's my problem
sometimes - I'm too eager, too keen, too determined I guess. I've been playing great, but been getting in the way of myself. I'm going to do my best and that's all I can do”.
Morrison has been more of a prodigy in his stellar career where he has earned laurels in both Cricket and Golf.
Already a shining star in the team where he remained Not Out for 114 in the Under-17 Surrey Team, Morrison decided to switch over to golf just a few months back.
He started off his career in golf with a disappointing Handicap of 18 and has now improved tremendously to stay on the mainstream European Tour for the moment.
He won his maiden European Tour title in the year 2010 where he landed the Madeira Island Open, winning a prize share of €1,000,000.
With an impressive four-under, 68 already on his belt from the previous round, Morrison capitalised on his gains to surge into contention right from early morning.
He carded three birdies on the front and made the turn to pull in two more on the opening holes on the back nine.
He carded another birdie before heading towards his favourite hole on the newly-renovated course, the par-five, 18th.
