BMW rider Troy Corser breaks forearm at Motorland Aragon event – WSBK news
BMW World Superbike team rider Troy Corser broke his forearm at the Motorland Aragon event held in Spain.
The two-time WSBK world champion was ran in by Maxime Berger of Supersonic Racing Team.
Australian rider, Corser said, “I overshot the last corner and went straight for a bit. When I turned in, I saw Maxime Berger coming. I could see that his rear wheel was off the ground when he was braking and he just went straight into me.”
The Aussie further said, “I am not blaming him. It was my fault for being off the track. It was just unlucky, really. But I am happy that I only suffered a broken arm, after the injury that I just suffered a week ago. I do not have any bruises, nothing is
sore and my neck is fine.”
After the accident, Corser was immediately shifted to the nearest medical facility for X-ray examination. Later the Aussie rider was diagnosed with a left forearm fracture in bones, ulna and radius. Corser was patient and said it was an unfortunate incident.
The accident took place in the second race of the day.
The first race session was won by Yamaha WSBK team rider Marco Melandri and the second was won by Aprilia Alitalia Racing Team rider Max Biaggi. The WSBK championship leader Carlos Checa also suffered an accident but still leads the table with 43 points.
In a recent event at San Marino, Corser faced a rough high-side which caused him a leg injury. The Aussie rider will now be shifted back to Britain for further medical checkups.
Corser has not been able to do well in the ongoing 2011 season. He has lacked the pace to compete with the race leaders. Despite his efforts, Corser stands at 15th place in the World Super Bike World Championship points table. His BMW teammate
Leon Haslam is ranked at sixth place after the Spanish event.
Corser’s compatriot in series, Chris Vermeulen and Mark Aitchison both finished the race with points for their Kawasaki team.
