BMW to sponsor the Irish Open for three years
Paul McGinley has announced that the BMW will now serve as the official car partner of the Irish Open for the next three years.
The upcoming edition of the Irish Open will be organised by the European Tour, from June 28 to July 1, 2012. BMW is now the official partner of the event and will continue its sponsor till 2014.
Another interesting part of this tournament is that it is being staged at the Royal Portrush Golf Club, Portrush in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. Last time, this event was played in the region almost 60 years ago
McGinley is so excited to have a new and popular brand name for the tournament. This initiative is adding huge hype for the tournament and for the company as well. Peter Walker, the General Manager and Sports Marketing, BMW (UK Ltd), is also happy for the
bonding of three years between the both.
“BMW is delighted to extend its association with the Irish Open for a further three years. We are all excited at the prospect of the event being played at such a spectacular course and in front of some of the largest and most knowledgeable crowds in golf,”
Walker said.
“As well as the Irish Open, BMW’s long-term commitment to The European Tour can be seen by its title sponsorship of the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth Club, the BMW International Open in Germany and the recently announced BMW Masters in China”.
IN 2010, the BMW Cars also sponsored the mega event of the Ryder Cup. The company achieved many desired goals and now plans to extend the relations with the world's leading sports organiser, the European Tour.
The deal was signed between McGinley and Robert Frame, the Business Development Manager of BMW. Frame recently visited the Northern Irish golf course and became the fan of such amazing sporting location.
The field of the Irish Open is not yet assembled. Almost a month is left for the European Tour mega prize event and all the players have already added the tournament in their 2012 season schedule.
However, qualifying for the event is not that easy. It is easy for the top-ranked players and difficult for underdogs.
