  1. I ride Kenda's and i love 'em

  2. i've been riding for a little over a year about, and i suggest brands: animals, dragons, Fit, and haro's (haro's are good to start).

dan's comp is a good website, but after viewing their brands, i'd suggest going to the companys' websites and checking them out their.  for price wise, thats hard to find, mine was over 200 bucks and i've been doin well, i got a DK, but their not the best.  Fit bikes are great too. my friend has a 2008 fit pro and loves it, they are light and strong.  you also want a bike with low gearing, which means a small chain wheel, etc.  my advice in gearing is somewhere are 28/10 (number of teeth) to start, if you don't like that combo for performance, than go higher or lower.  good luck, if you need any more help just ask.

  3. You can start off with a eastern. Very cheap price for good bikes.
