BMX compatibilty help?

hi, i have an old mongoose, i dont know any bb sizes or anything and dont know how to find out.

i want to put a new snafu fork on,

new 4jeri 3 peice cranks

new wah wah pedals

and new united value bars

how do i find out if they are all compatibal

p.s i have 44/16t gearing, if i put like a 25 on the front but left 16 on the back, would it be hard to ride or what?

  1. OK so lets go through your list

    -forks- there are only two different fork sizes you can get and they are (3/8 and 14mm)

    -cranks- you cranks will have to be whatever the setup is now such as (American,Euro,Span, and MID)

    -pedals- most 3 piece cranks arms need (9/16) pedal size

    -bars- bars are just your own personal preference and are always compatible because your stem is adjustable

    to find out stuff above just go to your local bike shop and they should help you out there

    and yes riding a 25/16 will be like riding a mountain bike in 1st gear and you will get tired really quick


  2. To be honest you would be better off buying a better frame first, then that opens the door to having a better bike. The forks will most likly fit, and would fit a better frame, but make sure that you have the right axel size for your wheels. The cranks will fit aslong as you have the right bottom bracket for them. The pedals will fit the 3-peice cranks. and the bars will most likly fit your stem as you can always put spacers in etc.
