BMX is it ok to have the gear ratio of 30:12?

would it make a huge difference to go from 33:12 to a 30:12 gear ratio?

Not really - but i would suggest just to leave it tho

It should be fine just need to take out a chain link or two, but I would recommend getting "micro gearing" so that you can use less chain, more clearance, and lighter. Like a gearing like 28-10 or 25-9.
