BOXING! has any famous / professional boxer ever..?

been known to have started boxing after the age of 16* , and win? for example did boxers like ALI start at the age of 16 because i was wondering there must be a champion boxer out their who started at a late age and made it to the top?????????????

Nate Campbell.

Not too sure how old he was when he started, but according to HBO during his fight with Juan Diaz, Campbell started boxing at around 24 years old because a co-worker suggested he tried it after catching Nate shadow boxing during work.  Nate tried it out, and wanted to win championships.

He turned pro at the year 2000, when he was 27/28 years old.

Although he isn't a PPV draw, he recently defeated Juan Diaz and became the IBF, WBA, and WBO unified World Lightweight Champion.

Nate Campbell will put his titles on the line against Joan Guzman coming this September.

Well Antonio Tarver started his Professional career at the age of 28 i believe, although he did start an an early age though.

Bernard Hopkins went to prison at age 17. There he began to box and when he was released at age 23 after 56 months in prison he started his professional career. He lost his first match a four rounder. A year and four months later he would fight again and win and keep on winning. At age 43 he is still listed on many top pound for pound fighter lists. So yes there are boxers who start late and make it to the top.

im sure there are alot of them boxing is not really a thing you start when your real young most parents wont allow it, i dunno what age fighters started at but i know for a fact there are some that win and start after the age of 16
