does anyone know of any horses that are bred or are proven in wet conditions? Please include info for the Europeans if you know because the turf will be very soft or yielding. It's raining now and has been since yesterday. Thanks

  4. Don't have a bunch of time right now, but here's a few that I really like.

In the filly and mare sprint, Maryfield should hanle the slop pretty good.

Don't see any way Nownownow won't win the Juvenile turf no matter what the conditions.

In the Dirt Mile, I don't know if you remember Pulpit or not, but he's got a little boy running here today that should move way up in the slop (you know what they say, like father like son).  His name is Corinthian.  Watch out for him.

If I get some time later, there are a few more I like, just need to get back to work for now.

  5. first of all, good job to Doug for picking yesterday's winners...  (??)

for the classic today, i'm going with Street Sense...  Street Sense ran his two best races over a wet track...  the BC Juvie last year and the KY Derby this year.  Granted, the track wasn't nearly as wet as it will be today.  Curlin has never run on a wet track before... that on top of the fact that he doesn't like the Monmouth surface [judging from his weak run in the Haskell], suggests that he's not gonna win.  Tiago has been running over synthetic tracks... going from a dry synthetic track to a soggy dirt track will probably be a challenge.

Street Sense had an excellent work at Monmouth the other day and he's shown that he does well over a wet track so he's my pick for the Classic.

edit: having seen the front runners win both of the first two BC races over this track today makes me seriously reconsider Hard Spun.  He's a frontrunner and tends to be very versitile.  If he manages to open up a lead, i dunno if anyone can catch him.
