BRITS: What do you call that breakfast dish?

It's made by taking the middle out of a slice of bread then putting the bread into a frying pan and cracking an egg into the hole in the bread and frying it together.

It was made for me when I was in England and I have made it for my family ever since - but we haven't known the proper name for it. We just call it English french toast.

What is the proper name for this dish?
