BSV Eynatten B1 B2 C1 in Belgium: Benoit Close Lecocq and Tobias Xhonneux grab Men’s Doubles title
Belgium’s Benoit Close Lecocq and Tobias Xhonneux have overpowered their team-mates Benoit Boursoit and Vincent Boursoit in Men’s Doubles final of the BSV Eynatten B1 B2 C1, on Sunday, January 29, in Belgium.
Lecocq and Xhonneux, who were the top seeds in the championship, have been playing remarkable badminton throughout the tournament and they also remained dominant in the final contest against their lower ranked compatriots.
The top seeded pair had to work hard to end the final contest in three games. They consumed 45 minutes in the court to grab the title.
The opening game of the final encounter was thrilling when both sides put up tremendous show in the opening rallies. They played fast badminton by hitting the bird hard from all areas of the court and progressed equally until the break, where no side could take comfortable lead.
After the break, Benoit and Vincent played remarkable badminton and took a decent lead by executing attacking shots. On the other hand, Lecocq and Xhonneux failed to remain positive and lost the set with a difference of 15-21.
In the following set, the top seeds played different game this time as they did not show any sign of slowing down their speed. They dictated the pace of rallies by remaining positive and managed a reasonable lead in the opening half of second game.
After the interval, Lecocq and Xhonneux continued their elevated game and maintained pressure on their country-mates in the whole set and won it with a 21-15 score on the board.
In the final set, Lecocq and Xhonneux were everywhere in the court as they played to their maximum potential and managed to establish an early lead and remained ahead of their rivals until the break.
After the interval, Lecocq and Xhonneux stretched their lead by playing fast badminton. They maintained their grip over the pace of rallies in the whole set and ended it with a superb 21-11 margin on the score board.
The in-form Lecocq and Xhonneux emerged as the winners of this 45-minute rubber-set Men’s Doubles final encounter by a margin of 15-21, 21-15 and 21-11.
