BT Voyager 2110 Wireless Modem Keeps D/C From PC But Not Internet?

I have a BT voyager 2110 wireless modem which is about a year old. A couple of times it's disconnected from my laptop but still shows connecting to the internet. It says it cannot connect & to contact service provider (OH wanted to go from BT to Ukonline for unlimited access) but OH insists it's my modem & not a problem with the internet as it gives a list of surrounding modems on both our PCs.

This has never happened when I was with BT & I have NEVER had any sort of disconnection problems with the internet or with my modem til we changed to UKonline.

Just wondered if it was my modem on it's way out (I hope not for an 80 quid modem!), the service provider playing silly beggars (I know it's unlimited but OH is ALWAYS downloading stuff) or maybe it's some sort of interference.

Try reinstalling the drivers.

it is possible if you download a lot,to find even though you are connected to internet for the downloads to work.

but you can not browse a web site.

you may be short of ram memory.

if your operating system is vista it is possible ~to plug an USB memory stick into a USB port on your tower and use it as extra ram memory.

1GB stick gives approx 0.8GB extra ram.

if not try turning off as many(as you can) programs on the start up menu

try also#download "ccleaner"(yes 2 c's) run it it will clear all the web related temp files and cookies out of your system and give you some memory back.

Wireless can start dropping for no "apparent" reason at any time.

How often do you reboot your modem (off -> wait a bit -> on)

Alternatives are:

Wireless capability on the modem is failing

Drivers on the laptop need updating

Wireless card on the laptop is faulty

I'd think a simple modem reset would do the trick though.
