BT faults, getting nowhere with india so, how to fix a battery contact fault myself.?

i have felt tip pens to write down colours, a car headlight bulb for voltage detection and a crowbar for opening boxes, will a budgie do for gas detection???

No, the best thing for gas detection (other than your issue GDU) is  box of matches or a lighter.

If there is gas present then the matches will get rid of it for you .

And for voltage just use yer tongue !!!

sounds like you have got the same tools as me, except I have got a Canary type Gdu. Don't bother looking for the fault , nick yer neighbours pair, unless you already done that on FRS. I think Square eyes answer is a bit silly,
