Question:

BT or ISP, whos responsible for my line to the house?

I am having problems with my broadband, i am 100% sure the line from the pole in the street is at fault.

Do i need to contact BT or will my ISP sort it?

  1. You want to contact the phone company.  The ISP is only responsible for delivering the signal through that connection.  You may want to first contact the ISP.  They may be able to trace the line to help you make the determination whether it's them or the line.

  3. the best thing to do is look for the main socket(nte) that feeds the house and remove the bottom plate which will disconnect all the internal wiring in the house...

    then connect your hub /router here and then test the broadband if its still faulty swap the filter and try again..

    if their is a fault with your line ie. noisy etc then contact the person you pay the line bill to, if the line is ok but there is a problem with broadband contact your isp

    the reason for testing inside the house is because if their is a fault with the wiring inside your house and an engineer visits you will be charged and its very expensive....
