BUSTO ARSIZIO clinches success in all-Italian semi-final of 2012 CEV Cup – Volleyball news
The crucial first round of the semifinals of 2012 CEV Women’s Volleyball Cup brought two top club teams of Italy together in a cracking fight on Tuesday, March 13.
Yamamay BUSTO ARSIZIO crossed paths with compatriots of Robur Tiboni URBINO. The former proved to be better in every aspect of the game and bagged 3-1 (20-25, 25-21, 25-21, 25-14) victory. Yamamay BUSTO ARSIZIO hosted the match and totally benefitted from
the support of local fans.
Ladies of Urbino took a great start in the game and captured first set but could not carry the momentum in the next frames. Yamamay came back firing and secured three sets in row to claim match victory. Success in the first match of the semi-finals is a
stepping-stone for Yamamay BUSTO ARSIZIO to go for the final berth.
The visiting team of Urbino opened the match on a good note and produced powerful serves and spikes. The opposite Ivana Djerisilo came hard on the hosts and actively participated in the attack. The strong offense of Urbino helped the team to pick up an early
lead in the match. Ivana was on fire, while she was joined by Juliann Faucette. The duo did an amazing job to lead their team to first-set win at 25-20. The home team, on the other hand, could not catch up with the opponents and suffered the set-back with
deficit of four points.
Yamamay jumped out of the gate and imposed a rhythmic flow of points in the second set. They hit back aggressively and attacked from all angles. The accurate serves of Aneta Havlickova helped the team to push Urbino behind the attack line. The setter of
Yamamay created trouble for the visiting squad with her tricky bump passes. As a result, the hosts managed to hit the equaliser in second set by sending 25-21 on board.
ARSIZIO got its full form back with second set win and continued with hard hitting in the next frame. The good combination of the attack and defence tactics enabled them to keep the control of the game in hand. Urbino struggled to get back on track but Yamamay
refused all their efforts. Marcon and Aneta Havlickova helped the team to win third set with identical score of 25-21.
Home squad maintained it supremacy in fourth set as well. The visiting Urbino failed to make a comeback and ended up fourth set after scoring only 14 points. Yamamay captured third consecutive set and earned the status of winning team.
The home coach Carlo Parisi shared his thoughts after the match.
He said, “We had some ups and downs but once we found our play, we did show some good Volleyball. URBINO is a good team, regardless if they play with Djerisilo or Faucette as their opposite. I think the serving turn of Havlickova was just fantastic but we
are already thinking about our next match with NOVARA.”
