BWF Super Series Finals: Chan Long slays Taufik Hidayat in the round robin match – Badminton news
China’s talented player Chen Long continues his impressive performance at international stage as he has hammered Indonesia’s Taufik Hidayat in the last round robin match at the 2011 BWF Super Series Finals, on Friday, December 16, in China.
The World Number Three, Long, showed no mercy to the former World and Olympic Champion, Taufik, and finished the fight in straight games. The Indonesian was helpless against the higher ranked Chinese and bowed down without any considerable fight. Long finished
the match in straight games with a huge difference.
The opening set of the match was interesting in the start but Long dominated the game in the second half and won it with a huge difference. In the second game of the contest, the Chinese remained miles ahead of Taufik and took it in an impressive way without
facing any resistance.
Right from the opening points, Taufik played with precision and gave a tough time to his opponent. He was leading the game at 7-3 when Long started to bridge the gap. The crowd could not have asked for better quality at this stage of the game as both players
pushed each other in all areas to manage a gap in the match.
In the second half of the opening game, the score was 13-13 when Taufik lost his focus in the game and failed to stop the aggression of his Chinese rival. Long scored eight consecutive points to finish the first set with a remarkable 21-13 score on the board.
In the following set of the match, the Chinese played with the similar aggression against Taufik, who was clearly lacking the impressive touch in his strokes. Long continued his roller-coaster performance in the game as he faced no resistance at all from
his Indonesian challenger. Taufik dropped down his speed and failed to return the powerful strokes of Long that were landing on the side lines of the court.
The Chinese played controlled badminton in the whole set and finished it with a stunning 21-7 score on the board. Long emerged as the winner of this straight-set fight in just 36 minutes with a completely one-sided margin of 21-13 and 21-7.
