BWF Super Series Finals: Lin Dan ends impressive run of Peter Hoeg Gade in Men’s Singles semi-final
China’s current World and Olympic Champion, Lin Dan, displays his power and supremacy in the world of badminton as he has ended the impressive run of Denmark’s Peter Hoeg Gade in the Men’s Singles semi-final of the 2011 BWF Super Series Finals, on Saturday,
December 17, in Liu Zhou, China.
The Chinese, who is ranked at number two in the Men’s Singles world rankings, played remarkable game against the experienced Peter Gade, who is currently World Number Four. Lin cheered the home fans by playing with speed and power to chuck out the Danish
in straight games by taking 41 minutes in the court.
The Chinese opened his campaign in a scintillating way and won the first game with a one-sided score. In the following game, Peter Gade played better badminton but not enough to get rid of the killing performance of the Chinese, who finished the second set
with a good difference.
Peter Gade, who is one of the best ever shuttlers in the arena of badminton, played well in opening rallies of the game but failed to maintain his speed. The score was 2-2 when super Dan started to accelerate his speed and occupied the driving seat. His
powerful and accurate strokes pushed the Danish in all corners of the court.
The Chinese, who is known for his power play and speed, was impressive on court as he showed no mercy to his Danish opponent in the whole opening game by dictating the pace of the rallies. His impressive and flawless game helped him to win the first game
with a stunning difference of 21-12.
In the second game of the match, Lin started the game in dominating way as he put his opponent in trouble by keeping the pace of rallies at the highest level. Peter Gade failed to get behind the bird as the attacking clears of his challenger were landing
in perfectly in the corners of the rear court. However, the Danish managed to level the score by reaching at 9-9.
The score remained equal until 12-12 when the Chinese started to build lead in the game by accelerating his speed. He continued his roller coaster run in the concluding phase of the game and ended it with a margin of 21-15. The final result of this straight-set
match was 21-12 and 21-15.
In the title match, Lin will take on his younger compatriot, Chan Long, who defeated Malaysia’s Lee Chong Wei in the other semi-final of the tournament.
