BWF Super Series Finals: Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen bag Men’s Doubles title – Badminton news
Denmark’s Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen have bagged Men’s Doubles title after beating China’s Chai Biao and Guo Zhendong in the final encounter of the 2011 BWF Super Series Finals, at the indoor arena in Liu Zhou, China, on Sunday, December 18.
The top seeds in Denmark, Boe and Mogensen, who have been placed at third position in the Men’s Doubles world standings, have been playing tremendous badminton for the last few months. They won the crown in the last month’s China Open Premier Super Series,
and now they claimed another title of Super Series Finals in the same country.
The opening set of the match was interesting when both sides played fast and attacking badminton. The Chinese pair remained unlucky in the opening game and lost it despite having four set points and lost it with a tight score. In the second game, Boe and
Mogensen crushed the Chinese duo with a stunning margin.
In the first game, Biao and Zhendong cheered the home fans with their aggressive play and remained successful in taking a good lead. They reached at 11-7 until the break in the first set.
After the interval, the Chinese pair played composed badminton and reached at 20-16, but remained unlucky to finish the set. They lost four set points because their Danish opponents spared no chance for them to score the last point.
Boe and Mogensen played remarkable badminton as they came from behind and took the first game with a 25-23 score on the board.
It was a different story in the second set as Boe and Mogensen played remarkable badminton against the confused Chinese opponents, who failed to match the speed of the rallies. Biao and Zhendong disappointed the home crowd as they failed to live up to the
expectations in the second game.
Boe and Mogensen remained focused and maintained pressure on their Chinese rivals throughout the second set. Biao and Zhendong failed to release pressure as they committed many unforced errors and remained trailing far behind their rivals.
Boe and Mogensen finished the set with a stunning score of 21-7. They won this 37-minute contest in straight games with a margin of 25-23 and 21-7.
