BWF Super Series Finals: Peter Hoeg Gade hammers Simon Santoso in Men’s Singles Group A fight
Denmark’s Peter Hoeg Gade proves that his growing age has got nothing to do with his superb form as he played fast badminton and thrashed Indonesia’s Simon Santoso in the Men’s Singles Group A fight in the 2011 BWF Super Series Finals, on Wednesday, December
14, in China.
Peter Gade, who is currently World Number Four, played to his full potential and crushed Santoso without showing any respect. The higher ranked Danish player finished the contest in just 34 minutes in straight games.
The first game was thrilling in the opening rallies but Peter Gade occupied the driving seat and won the set with a remarkable margin. In the following set of the match, the higher ranked Danish shuttler hammered the Indonesian and took the game with a stunning
margin.
Right from the start of the opening game, both shuttlers played fast badminton and remained close until 4-4, when the Danish started to dictate the pace of the game. Peter Gade employed wonderful over-head strokes on the back-hand side of Santoso, who failed
to respond well especially in the front-court area. Until the break, the Danish set up a good lead of 11-7.
After the break, Peter Gade continued troubling his Indonesian challenger with his well executed semi-smashes followed by superb spinning net shots. Santoso failed to play fast game as he was taking the bird late in from all corners. The Danish maintained
highest speed and won the set with superb margin of 21-13.
In the second game, Peter Gade remained in good control and manipulated the Indonesian at the net area. His powerful smashes and well executed semi-smashes on the right side of his challenger earned him many points.
The Danish veteran played his usual game with wonderful planning and kept the tempo of the rallies at the highest level. Santoso committed many unforced errors in this game and lost it without putting up strong show.
Peter Gade finished the second game with a stunning 21-9 score on the board. The Danish won this match in a scintillating manner as he ended it in just 34 minutes with a 21-13 and 21-9 score on the board.
