BWF Super Series Finals: Tine Baun tames Juliane Schenk in Women’s Singles first match in Group A
Denmark’s elite shuttler, Tine Baun, has played impressive badminton as he has tamed lower ranked Juliane Schenk of Germany in her first match in Women’s Singles Group A in the 2011 BWF Super Series Finals, in China, on Wednesday, December 14.
Baun, who has been ranked at number five in the Women’s Singles world rankings, displayed a phenomenal performance against the World Number Seven, Schenk. The Danish was far ahead in all departments of the game as she faced no trouble from her challenger
in the whole encounter and finished it in straight sets in just 27 minutes.
The Danish was just impressive in her play in the opening set of the game and won it with a striking margin. In the second game, Schenk tried to match the speed in the opening points but failed as Baun was quicker in all areas of the court. The higher ranked
Danish finished off the second set with a completely one-sided margin.
Schenk played fast game in the opening rallies but failed to control the bird effectively as Baun took over the control and started to build lead. Her impressive strokes in all corners of the court put Schenk in trouble. Baun executed fast drops coupled
with powerful smashes on the side lines of the court. Until the break, the Danish remained successful in reaching far ahead of her opponent at 11-5.
After the break, Baun remained positive as he kept the pace at highest level. Schenk failed to take the bird early and executed negative strokes which helped the Danish to stretch her lead. Baun finished up the opening game with a remarkable margin of 21-12.
In the following set of the match, Baun took no time in setting up a stunning lead by reaching at 11-5. She remained on the right track after the break and showed no mercy to her German challenger. Schenk could not impress the crowd as she failed to play
fast game.
Baun finished the set with a terrific 21-11 score on the board. The Women’s Singles straight-set contest ended in 27 minutes with a margin of 21-12 and 21-11.
