BWF Super Series Finals: Wang Yihan thrashes Tine Baun in the Women’s Singles Group B match
China’s elite shuttler, Wang Yihan, has delivered phenomenal performance as she crushed Denmark’s Tine Baun in the Women’s Singles Group B match at the 2011 BWF Super Series Finals, in Liu Zhou, China, on Thursday, December 15.
The right-handed Yihan, who is currently World Number One in the Women’s Singles world standings, displayed her wonderful skills and finished the match without facing any trouble from her experienced Danish rival. Baun failed to make her mark over Yihan as the Chinese was far ahead in all aspects of the game. The higher ranked Chinese shuttler finished the match in 42 minutes.
The top seed Chinese played wonder game in the opening set and finished it with a decent margin. In the second game, she continued her impressive score and ended it in a terrific style by a remarkable score.
The start of the first game was surprising for the higher ranked Yihan as the Danish shuttler played tremendous badminton and took no time in setting up a wonderful gap. She was impressive in her shot selection and made no mistakes in manipulating the loop poles of her local opponent. Yihan failed to play well in the opening half of the game and remained behind her rival at 6-11.
However, the Chinese cheered the home crowd by accelerating her speed in the second half of the first set. She played with superb variations in her strokes and remained successful in bridging the gap by reaching at 15-15. She remained on course by playing controlled badminton and finished the first game with a wonderful score of 21-16.
In the second set of this interesting Women’s Singles contest, both ladies remained neck-to-neck until the score reached at 6-6. At this stage, Yihan became aggressive in all areas of the court and started to build a reasonable lead. At the one-minute break, the Chinese was in a slightly better position in the match by reaching at 11-9.
After the break, Yihan started to play with variations and stretched her lead easily as her challenger failed to level the score. The Chinese ended the second score of the game with a remarkable margin of 21-12. Yihan finished this straight-set battle in 42 minutes with a margin of 21-16 and 21-12.
