BWF Superseries Finals 2012: Wang Xiaoli and Yu Yang (F) earn Women’s Doubles title
China’s Wang Xiaoli and Yu Yang (F) proved their mettle in front of their home fans as they played with superb precision and won the Women’s Doubles crown at the BWF Superseries Finals 2012 in China, on Sunday, December 16.
In the final battle, Xiaoli and Yang cheered their home fans by playing dominating badminton and eventually thrashed Denmark’s Christinna Pedersen and Kamilla Rytter Juhl without facing any considerable problem.
The fourth seeded Xiaoli and Yang, who has been positioned at number three in Women’s Doubles world ranking, put up smashing performance on court and they remained successful in winding up the final battle in just 35 minutes.
Chinese ladies were in remarkable form on court as they played with impressive speed and kept their rivals under pressure throughout the battle. They ended up the match in straight sets with a controlled total on the score board.
On the contrary, Christinna and Kamilla failed to maintain their positive and winning run in the arena as they faced a severe treatment from their higher ranked Chinese challengers and eventually went down against them in a vulnerable fashion.
In the starting game, the impressive Xiaoli and Yang delivered a spectacular performance on court as they executed powerful shots with wonderful deception from starting rallies.
Chinese players did not let their Danish rivals find a good flow and were quick in getting the bird early from all areas. They managed to stay ahead at the initial stage of opening set.
Until the end of first half, the fourth seeded Xiaoli and Yang stayed focused in the arena and they took a strong position on board by grabbing a reasonable lead.
After the break, Chinese ladies continued playing attacking and controlled badminton and pushed their rivals on back foot without facing a considerable resistance.
Xiaoli and Yang were focused and composed in the arena as they did not play negative badminton at any stage and eventually wrapped up the opening set with a comfortable margin of 21-16.
The higher ranked Xiaoli and Yang did not lose their concentration at any stage in the starting half of second game and maintained their upper hand over their Danish challengers.
Chinese shuttlers executed powerful smashes and controlled the pace at net that helped them setting up a convincing lead until the one-minute break.
After the interval, the impressive Xiaoli and Yang continued their smooth ride without letting their opponents to get close on the board and ended up the second game with a superb margin of 21-14.
Xiaoli and Yang remained successful in winning their home event in a dominating fashion as they easily sent their challengers packing in straight sets with a controlled 21-16 and 21-14 score on the board.
