BWF gives green light to Yonex Sunrise India Open 2012 – Badminton News
The Badminton World Federation (BWF) is satisfied with the initial arrangements of Yonex Sunrise India Open, set to be held from April 24 to 29 and gave Badminton Association of India (BAI) a green light on March 20, 2012.
A three-member team of BWF had a detailed two and half hour meeting with the Indian officials and gave a go ahead call after examining the preliminary arrangements regarding venue and security.
Selvamresh Supramaniam, a BWF representative and marketing manager of Super series, looked satisfied while giving the official approval to the event organised by BAI.
He said, "BAI has put up efficient initiatives and post inspection things are looking good."
Super powers of badminton world like China, Japan, Indonesia, Korea have confirmed their participation in the event and all the world class players are expected to show case their talent in Indian Open but the participating countries will announce their
names later.
Indian Open is going to be one of the last events before 2012 London Olympics and every player will be looking to earn some valuable ranking points to obtain favourable draws in the mega event so the last week of April is definitely loaded with some nerve-racking
badminton battles.
Selvamresh, who is in India with BWF inspection team, is hoping the top shuttlers to lent grace to the event with their presence.
He said, “We can expect almost all the main players to take part. Everyone will be looking to gain crucial ranking points to get the most favourable draw for the Olympics.”
The Badminton Association of India is taking unusual steps to make Indian Open a successful event and the badminton lovers have been granted a free entry to watch the legends of the arena in full action.
However, there is also a chance that top badminton players may skip the event and prefer to sweat hard in the practice sessions before the mega event of the Olympics.
In the recent European events, All-England, the German Open and the Swiss Open, spectators had to face disappointment as few badminton giants decided to avoid overstraining and did not compete in these tournements.
