BYB or puppy mill or just plain dumb?

she claims to not make any money, then why do what she is doing? I just dont understand this lady. I mean it can't cost that much considering the puppies are 800-1000 dollars and they eat there mothers milk for about 7 weeks. Anyone got a good explanation or opinion?

NO reputable breeder purposly breeds mixed breed animals.

She's making money off this.  I dont know if she's a miller.. but definantly a back yard breeder..  and "just plain dumb" describes this well.

No one who loves dogs or wolves would create wolf hybrids..  it doesnt do a favor for either specie.  They are neither pets, nor wild dogs.  Most people cannot handle and contain these animals properly.  Many times they are released into the wild, and because they have no fear of humans, will approach humans for food..  people shout "wolf" and shoot at them.  The true wolf is actually fearful of humans and rarely approaches.  People buy these animals because they want something "exotic" or "tough" but really dont know what they are getting themselves into.

Also Id have to say that most "wolf" dogs are just your average husky/mal mix anyways..  very few of them have ANY wolf in them at all.  People breed these mutts, label them as wolf, and sell them for a profit to people who think they want a wolfdog.

If you want a wolf-dog, I suggest you seek one thru rescue.  Some people are capable of handling these animals, and have the means to care for and contain them..  if you're one of these people, good for you.. there's plenty of them out there in need of a capable home!

Humph.  After looking at the site a little closer, it is evident to me that she isn't that responsible.  WHo would just accept money for a "Cherished and loved" puppy without seeing and meeting the people first?

Have you considered the cost of feeding the mother? the stud fee? Vet bills for the mom and litter (as well as shots)? What about the cost of genetic testing, showing and working the dog? What if the mother has trouble delivering the pup and needed vet help? All these things cost money. Breeders generally don't even break even.

You should target the people who mass breed mixed runts and sell them for $12000.

i don't know either way about this breeder but i wouldn't sell puppies for cheap. think about it, if they were cheap people would buy to try then dump them if they didn't work out.

That lady is an idiot. Besides, no good breeder on earth would give a 'pricing chart' on their website and allow any old person to just buy a puppy outright on the site without knowing anything about them. People sicken me.

And wolf husky hybrids?! Either she's keeping wild wolves just for breeding purposes, or she's sticking female huskies out in the woods tied to a tree when they're in heat, hoping a male wolf will stroll by...

I don't believe that this is a puppy mill. I do believe, however, that this woman is very, very irresponsible and is breeding for money. Any breeder who has price charts on their website, accept money online without even meeting the buyer, or has several litters a year is an irresponsible breeder.  She's simply breeding these hybrid dogs so people who think it's cool to have a hybrid will buy them up. She's not working to preserve a breed or the breed standard, she's not breeding to maintain the integrity of a breed, and she's not breeding to improve the breed. That's what reputable breeders do. She's breeding to line her pockets.

And take a look at the 'contract'. That contract is c**p. This is my favorite part: "In the case of a Genetic illness I will offer a replacement. This is for Genetic disorders only. Proof will be required so that I can alter the parents of the affected pup." EVIDENCE that she does NO genetic testing before breeding. She'll only spay and/or neuter the parents AFTER they produce several litters of puppies and AFTER those puppies begin to show health problems at a few years old. It says she's not responsible for any unwanted behavior - proof that she's covering her a** because she knows the parents have bed temperments, and she doesn't want anyone suing her after the puppies grow and begin attacking people.

There are so many more problems with it...that contract is a joke.

     There is no reason or need to breed wolf hybrids. They are often impossible to housebreak, train or have in a house. They are often banned. Since no genetic tests are indicated I doubt any are done. BYB exsist to make money for the irresponsible owner and heartache for the gullible owners. Pups should be fed meat and puppy food from about 4 weeks old and totally weaned by 6 weeks so feeding and cleaning the p**p is work. I'm sure she does make money or she wouldn't be in business.
