Question:

BYU-I Symphony Audition- Which minor scales?

I'm auditioning to be in the Symphony Orchestra at BYU-Idaho soon, and I was told that I have to prepare 2 solos (one technical and one expressive), demonstrate my knowledge of the major and minor scales, and sight read. I have most of it down, but I just have one question. When they say minor scales, which ones are they talking about? I mean, there are 3 types of minor scales: melodic, harmonic, and natural. So which ones should I practice? I was thinking natural, but I'm not sure.

  1. Most auditions ask for melodic minors.

I'm pretty sure thats the case with BYU also.

If all else fails, just call the music department and ask.

    which instrument?
