Newcastle United striker Demba Ba is set to be fined by the club after he sparked off rumours by stating that a move to Arsenal would be like a ‘dream switch’. The Senegalese international is increasingly linked with a January move away from the
club following his recent comments.
As reported by English media and press, Newcastle’s manager Alan Pardew is closing in on the signing of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 international and Marseille player Loic Remy, who is understood to be on his way to Tyneside if a deal materializes.
The player will cost the Magpies around £11.4 million, and is understood to be a replacement for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Demba-Ba-c10812, who may be on his way out of St. James’ Park.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429, and admitted that it is the sort of move that can make a player dream.
Ba’s future at Tyneside has been a constant source of speculation, especially due to the £7 million release clause in his contract. The clause states that Ba can leave Newcastle if an interested party offers up the money to activate his release clause. Newcastle
have approached the player and his players in an attempt to remove the clause, but that has not happened.
Newcastle are understood to be upset with the player, who recently made his comments about Arsenal public on French television, and it is expected that Alan Pardew will take action against the striker. The manager is set to meet the club’s managing director
Derek Llambias in an attempt to sort out the situation.
In another interview, Ba also criticised the team’s tactics and style of play, and is apparently in breach of contract which could potentially cause him two week’s worth of wages. The player had said the following:
“I’m not happy when the team does not create anything. Fans come to games to see beautiful games with beautiful actions and not long balls from the goalkeeper to the striker.”
The striker has bagged 11 goals in 17 league appearances this season, and remains an integral part of the squad. However, a falling out with the manager may pave the way for a January exit.
