The board members of the German club have decided to part ways with their head coach, due to a number of disappointing results this season that sees them in 16th place in the table
Hoffenheim director of sport Andreas Muller has announced that team trainer Markus Babbel has been terminated from the Bundesliga outfit because of a frustrating start to the current campaign. The club is currently 16th
in the rankings with only 12 points from 15 league games.
As a result, the officials choose to let go of the manager. They thought that the team’s position in the league table was unacceptable and that a change was necessary to help them move up in the rankings, as they do not want to
stay in the relegation zone.
The club official claimed that the risky situation and the poor results were the main reason behind the sacking. He stated that it was crucial to make the sacrifice. He said that the team need to be coached by a new person, and
will start over from scratch.
"Our increasingly threatening situation and the negative trend have left me no choice. It is important to make a cut. We have to hit the re-set switch and start a new beginning," the 49-year-old was quoted as saying in an interview.
Under-23 tactician Frank Kramer will be the new interim coach for the next two games. The newly appointed man suggested that he was not pleased with his role but insisted that he is willing to help the side in such hard times.
"Of course, having to step [up] was not my desire. But I will confidently face this upcoming, difficult challenge,” he mused.
“He will initially take over for the next two matches, but possibly even beyond that," Hoffenheim's sporting director said.
"In this constellation we will have the necessary calmness to think about our next steps," he finally added.
Muller is positive about the new appointment as he believes in Kramer’s abilities. He conceded that the new boss is planned to take charge for the upcoming games but can stay on with the rule until the end of the season.
