The club manager has stepped down from his sporting director role to be replaced by Andreas Mueller.
Hoffenheim head coach Markus Babbel will continue his managerial post with the Bundesliga outfit, but is happy that the Rhein-Neckar-Arena outfit has allowed him to leave the post of sporting director so he can fully concentrate
on his team in the new season.
Hoffenheim are currently at the bottom of the league table as they have lost three out of three Bundesliga games and face a real fight to avoid relegation this season. Mueller has previously been the director of sport for league
rivals Schalke from 2006 to 2009 and will be an important person for the technical role at the club.
The team trainer conceded that he liked his post but the amount of work with the two tasks was too much for him. Therefore, he decided to choose coaching over management and left the board room. As a result, he urged the club to
find his successor a month ago.
“I enjoyed the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684, but the additional workload was excessively high and I realised that I'm simply better suited to coaching,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The tactician added that he is pleased that they have acquired a very qualified man for the crucial position in the shape of the experienced Mueller. The club chief executive officer said that they were excited by the new man’s
plans for the team and feel that he is the right person for the job.
“So at the start of the season I asked the club to step up the search for a sporting director. And I'm delighted they found such an excellent solution in the form of Andreas Mueller,” he mused.
“We thank Markus Babbel for his commitment as director of football. We are certain that he can lead the team out of the critical situation we are currently in,” he finally concluded.
The German team commended the performance of Babbel in the dual role and are fully confident that the veteran manager can help Hoffenheim come out of the relegation zone.
