Well my boy is only 4 months old but I am already thinking about his 1st birthday. My husband has been deployed to Iraq and won't be returning till past our 1st born sons 1st birthday. At first I said I wouldn't have a birthday party since his dad will miss out. But now I'm thinking why should I make my boy miss out. What would you do? Should I just have a lil something with close family and friends or hold out to have something big for his 2nd b-day?

  1. First off, May God bless your Husband for being one of America's Heros! Please tell him I appreciate him fighting for our freedom!

Now, to answer you question- Although it will be hard without your sons father at the 1st Birthday party, you still need to have him a Party! Turning 1 is a BIG milestone!!!! So, don't let your son miss out on having a party. I don't think his Daddy would want that. So, make sure you Video Record the whole thing for Daddy to see when he makes it back home.

  2. I would do something very low-key: after all, your son isn't going to know it's his birthday or even what a birthday is at one year old! Lol.

Have some close family and friends over, have a cake, some presents, and videotape it all for Daddy.

  3. Ofcourse you should still have something for him! After all, it is HIS birthday, not your husbands. Maybe your hubby can send him some gifts or a video card so when your son grows up, he will see his daddy was still there somehow.
